![]() ![]() Maybe even try Ubuntu, as LM is very similar. It should be of type "Linux" and probably "other Linux" or "Linux 2.6/3.x". Things that might make a dramatic difference: Either research things online or experiment. There are lots of configuration variables in VirtualBox which can dramatically affect how it handles VMs. However it still doesn't boot, and that's my other suggestion to you. I no longer have the fatal error in VirtualBox. When I checked the MD5, they did NOT match.Äownloaded by following links off the official site and now the MD5s match. This is standard procedure and you may want to skip it but that's what I found - I downloaded LM 16 Xfce off a torrent and couldn't get it to boot (getting that FATAL error on both an old PC and VirtualBox). I would suggest you check the MD5 of what it was you downloaded. In the case of "No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!" it can read the MBR (grub) but can't read the filesystem so it can't find a kernel to boot from. I then tried to download Mint MATE 32bit and that one isn't even registering on my Oracle VM Virtual Box Manager. My professor tried some other commands and they all came back with the error "Could not find kernel image:" I then tried typing in this command: "mboot.c32 -c boot.cfg" but got "Could not find kernel image: mboot.c32" No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found! I found a solution to that by going into Storage -> Controller: IDE -> clicking on the CD/DVD icon below it -> clicking on the CD/DVD icon under Attributes to bring up a drop-down menu -> choosing "linuxmint-16-cinnamon-dvd-32bit.iso" -> checking the Live CD/DVD box under Attributes When I first started Mint I get the messageįATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted. I am using Oracle VM Virtual Box Manager to launch Mint Cinnamon 32bit. I am completely new to using linux and am using it for a class, unfortunately my professor has not been able to help me. ![]()
